McTimoney for Dogs FAQ's
How long does treatment take?
Usually 1 hour.
How many treatments will my dog need?
This depends on the severity of the problem. Emma likes owners to feel the benefit of the treatment, and then report back after one week. A further visit can then be arranged if required.
How soon can my dog return to normal activity after treatment?
Dogs need time after treatment for their musculoskeletal system to settle and adapt. This will usually take 24 – 48 hours. Rest and normal toilet visits are recommended the day of the treatment. Dogs are usually extremely sleepy after treatment and this is to be encouraged. Normal activity can then be re-established slowly and each dog will be given individual aftercare advice.
Is it recommended that dogs have MOT/Check Ups even if there does not seem to be a problem?
MOTs are highly recommended. If small but repetitive minor traumas are left then the body will initially compensate. However, after a period of time when the compensatory methods are exhausted, pain and spasm will occur. An MOT will catch these minor problems early before they have time to develop. MOTs help to support the animals musculoskeletal system and in the case of working dogs sustain their performance ability.
Will treatment be covered by my insurance?
Most major insurance companies cover Mctimoney treatment for your animal. However, it is best to phone up your insurance company and check if you are unsure.
How do I prevent misalignments and muscle spasm?
You can't always. However, some ways include learning massage for your dog, it's highly rewarding and can prevent certain injuries occurring in the first place. When obedience training try to repeat everything from both sides so as to avoid repetitive strain on the neck. Take some time to consider your dogs exercise regime, management and environment. Please feel free to contact Emma for advice.
